David L. Murphy
David is a highly-experienced business executive who brings a wealth of expertise in designing, developing, and implementing human resource transformation projects for major global corporations. His knowledge and leadership in these areas make him an exceptionally valuable asset to our organization. Prior to joining CLG, David led the global Human Resources functions at The McGraw-Hill Companies and Ford Motor Company.
Most recently, David served as Executive VP, Human Resources, for the McGraw-Hill Companies where he crafted and implemented HR strategies that helped drive the transformation of the company’s four business segments to be more digital, global, and growth oriented. David led the reorientation of the company’s Human Resource function to a business partner focus, using technology to build a web-based, global integrated talent management suite that leveraged compensation, performance, and succession planning to better serve the company’s “people management” needs.
As a company officer, reporting to the CEO and with significant Board of Director-level engagement, David demonstrated his personal leadership in managing large-scale change initiatives across complex organizational structures to embed new competencies consistent with evolving market needs. He also personally directed the design of a more transparent coaching and development culture fostering the identification and growth of leadership talent – and of more effectively aligning that talent with critical company business objectives.
Before joining McGraw Hill, David served in a variety of increasingly-responsible regional and global positions with Ford Motor Company where he rose through the ranks to become Vice President, Human Resources. His experience at Ford embraced all of the company’s major operating areas with key assignments in Europe, Australia, and the United States.
David serves on CLG’s Board as an outside Director and is Chair of the HR Committee.
