A Shared Vision In the early 1990s, CLG co-founders Leslie Braksick, Ph.D. and Julie Smith, Ph.D. had already helped set new standards for performance improvements at West Virginia University’s Center for Entrepreneurial Studies & Development, Inc. (CESD). Using their expertise in Applied Behavioral Science, the two quickly rose to the top in helping local businesses and nonprofits learn how to work more efficiently, create better work environments, and respond to complex operational challenges.
Braksick and Smith shared a vision; they saw the enormous possibilities of using Applied Behavioral Science in the business world to address more complex challenges. Acting on their vision, they created CLG in February 1993. CLG began to serve an ever-larger client group and helped businesses to overcome increasingly complex problems with behavior-based solutions. Soon, CLG was known throughout the region for our effectiveness in customizing solutions for a great variety of business challenges: workplace safety, new technology implementations, leader transitions, employee retention, and leadership effectiveness.
Phenomenal Growth and Success Within two years, CLG had grown from a handful of consultants based in Morgantown, West Virginia, to 45 employees throughout North America with our corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Today, CLG has more than 140 consultants working with Fortune 50, 100, and 500 companies in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.
CLG’s expertise in Applied Behavioral Science has enabled us to expand our range of solutions. As CLG has grown, we have taken on more complex business challenges in operational improvement, strategy implementation, and leadership effectiveness. CLG has played a critical support and consultation role to senior leaders who have implemented international, enterprise-wide strategies for improved efficiencies and productivity. Our consultants have even helped CEOs and senior leaders manage mergers of some of the world’s largest corporations.
